"We
the ladies of the Brownstone invite you to kick off your Stilettos, have a
seat, enjoy a glass of wine, or shake your favorite Martini (Faith will be
mixing her delicious and yes, intoxicating Brownstone Martini's tonight. We
can't wait!), relax, and unwind with us. The Brownstone is our home, and we
hope you'll make it your own! Oh, we almost forgot. You'll need the address
right!? Well, we're on Chicago's South side. Right at 43rd Street and S. King
Drive. Check us out right here every Monday. The door is always open. Some
still call 43rd and King Drive the 'hood', others historic Bronzeville. We
call it: Thank God we're home!"
Welcome to the Brownstone,
Josie, Shahari, Zoë, Lauryn, and Faith!
What are we?
Brownstone
is the drama, which looks at our triumphs, struggles, faith, fears,
joys, hopes, relationships, and dreams as Black women living real life
in the city. Meet real sisters-friends, you know, the woman like you
who is trying to live and do the right thing, and sometimes that's just
hard to do.
"Damn!" "Shut up Shahari." -- Moving right along...
Who is she?
She's
single, sassy, and searching; married, talented, and unfulfilled;
wealthy, fabulous, and alone; happy and yet insecure; intelligent,
progressive, and envious. On any given day she could be you or me!
We're a drama!
More
than a 30 minute television sitcom, Brownstone is a complex drama, a
dialog if you will about real Black women. It is your story. It is our
story. It's our time. Share in the lives of five dynamic
sister-friends, living in a South side Chicago Brownstone. Watch their
lives unfold as they face challenges, laugh like crazy, and meet life
changes we can all relate to. Meet Josie, Shahari, Zoë, Lauryn, and
Faith. Meet the men who complete them and the men who unravel them.
Learn of the careers they hate and the passions that rage within. They
love hard, play harder, and do the best they know how. Just like you,
and just like me.
Brownstone will stare down issues others have been unwilling to touch.
The Brownstone will boldly and proudly hold the mirror for
self-reflection, and whether the Brownstone makes you laugh, cry, wanna
hug your best friend, or slap that @#!* one thing is for sure, you'll
fall in love with these sister-friends and those you meet on their
journey. They're you. They'll be someone you know, or love; and as they
change, evolve, live, learn, and grow our prayer is you will also.
Fueled by their faith and emotions these five sister-friends of the Brownstone will keep you coming back for more every week.
